A NEW ATTORNEY AND LAW CLERK JOIN SCIARRILLO CORNELL

Sciarrillo Cornell is pleased to announce the addition of W. Connor Kimmel and Rakiah N. Bonjour to the firm.  “We are excited to have Connor and Rakiah join our team,” said co-founder and partner Anthony P. Sciarrillo.  “We know that they will be an asset to the firm and that they will help us continue to expand our services to our clients.” Connor served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jodi Lee Alper, PJ.Ch. in Essex County where he performed legal research on probate matters, foreclosures, business dissolutions, and a variety of other legal issues.  He earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 2019, and his B.A. from Monmouth University in 2016.  He is admitted to practice in New Jersey. Rakiah received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2020, and her B.A. from Iowa State University in 2017.  Rakiah’s bar results are pending. While at Seton Hall, she worked as a student attorney for the Center for Social Justice where she successfully defended clients in court against harassment charges, and drafted pleadings, discovery documents, and motions. Rakiah also served as the Comments Editor of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal.

Sciarrillo, Cornell, Merlino, McKeever & Osborne, L.L.C. is proud to announce that Scott D. Zucker has been elevated to partner of the firm effective July 1, 2019.

 

“Scott is a team player and has always been reliable in whatever we have asked him to do”, said Athina L. Cornell.  “We have no doubt that his knowledge in Education Law will help with our continued success.”

 

Scott has over eight years of experience representing boards of education focusing on special education and labor law. He counsels boards of education in the areas of residency and homelessness, labor negotiations, labor law, policy review and compliance, development of salary guides, reviewing and revising contracts and forms, board governance, personnel matters, Open Public Records Act, and student code of conduct issues. He attends board meetings, IEP meetings, special education mediations, other administrative proceedings, and negotiates labor contracts on behalf of boards of education.

 

A cum laude graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, he also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Richmond.  He previously held a Judicial Clerkship with the Honorable Thomas N. Lyons, J.A.D., and Honorable Richard Newman, P.J.A.D., New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division.  Scott is admitted to practice law in both New Jersey and New York.

2019 Rising Stars list.

No more than 5% of attorneys in the State of New Jersey are honored with being included on the Super Lawyers list. Only 2.5% of attorneys are selected to the Rising Stars list. The Super Lawyers list utilizes a patented selection process that includes peer nominations, independent research and peer evaluations. The same process is utilized for the Rising Stars list, but the candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less.
